Estes Park
Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado
About This Activity
Estes Park is the eastern gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park and a delightful mountain town in its own right. Elk roam freely through town (especially in fall during rutting season), adding to the charm. The Riverwalk follows the Big Thompson River through downtown, lined with taffy shops, outdoor gear stores, galleries, and restaurants. Lake Estes offers kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and a scenic bike path. The town hosts events year-round including the Elk Fest (October), Scottish-Irish Highland Festival, and Rooftop Rodeo. It's an ideal base for RMNP with plenty of lodging options.
