About This Activity

The Stanley Hotel, built in 1909, is famous as the inspiration for Stephen King's 'The Shining' after his stay in 1974. Multiple tour options are available: the family-friendly Ghost Stories Tour ($10, 1 hour), the Stanley Night Tour exploring the haunted fourth floor ($23, 1.5 hours), and the Spirited Night Tour ($28, 75 min) for braver visitors. Hardcore ghost enthusiasts can join a 5-hour Paranormal Investigation ($60) with professional equipment. Even without a tour, the grand lobby and grounds are worth a visit for the mountain views. Parking $10 (May-Oct) with a $5 redeemable token. Reservations recommended — book at stanleyhotel.com or call (970) 577-4110.
