About This Activity

The Slea Head Drive is a 47km loop west from Dingle town around the tip of the Dingle Peninsula — Ireland's most westerly point. The road passes a remarkable concentration of Iron Age and early Christian monuments: Dunbeg Fort perched above sea cliffs (entry €5), and a cluster of clocháns (beehive huts) dating back 2,000 years (entry €4). From Dunquin Pier, boat trips run to Great Blasket Island (inhabited until 1953) from May to September, weather permitting. Free to drive year-round.

Seasonal note: Best May–Sep; Blasket ferry weather-dependent Apr–Oct
