About This Activity

Mount Battie is Camden's crown jewel — a 1,380-ft summit with 360-degree views over the harbor, dozens of Penobscot Bay islands, and the rolling Camden Hills. Hikers can take the well-maintained Mount Battie Trail (1.4 miles, moderate), while the auto road offers a drive-up option from May through October. The summit was famously described in Edna St. Vincent Millay's poem 'Renascence.' Fall foliage from the top in October is extraordinary.

Seasonal note: Auto road open May–Oct; trails accessible year-round; peak foliage late Sept–Oct
