About This Activity

Kitch-iti-Kipi, meaning 'The Big Spring,' is Michigan's largest freshwater spring: 200 feet across and 40 feet deep, with over 10,000 gallons per minute gushing from limestone fissures. A self-propelled observation raft lets you glide across the emerald-green pool, watching ancient tree trunks and fat trout suspended in impossibly clear water. Located in Palms Book State Park (Michigan Recreation Passport required, $12/day non-resident). The raft is ADA-accessible and leashed pets are welcome. Arrive early in summer to avoid 1-2 hour waits at peak times (10am-5pm).
