Santuário de Fátima Day Trip from Lisbon
Lisbon, Portugal
About This Activity
The Sanctuary of Fátima marks the site where three shepherd children reported apparitions of the Virgin Mary in 1917 — today it is one of the world's most important Catholic pilgrimage destinations, drawing over 6 million visitors annually. The vast esplanade fronting the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary is larger than St. Peter's Square; the Chapel of the Apparitions stands on the exact spot of the visions. Express buses from Lisbon Sete Rios run every 1–2 hours (90 min, €12 return). Entry to all shrines is free. The 12th and 13th of May and October are major feast days drawing enormous crowds.
Seasonal note: May 13 and Oct 13 are peak pilgrimage dates — book transport well ahead
