Marathon's beaches are some of the best in the Florida Keys. Sombrero Beach is a free public beach with calm, shallow water perfect for families, plus picnic pavilions and volleyball courts. Nearby Coco Plum Beach offers a quieter alternative with mangrove-fringed shoreline and excellent kayak launching. Both are on the ocean side with sunset views over the Gulf.
Seasonal note: Year-round. Sombrero Beach is free and rarely crowded.
