About This Activity
The Esterel Massif is a 32,000-hectare volcanic massif between Cannes and Saint-Raphaël where blood-red porphyry cliffs drop straight into turquoise Mediterranean coves. The coastal GR98 trail (4-6 hours, free) passes hidden beaches, viewpoints, and swimming spots. Best reached by train from Nice to Saint-Raphaël (1h15, €15) then hiking west. Avoid mid-July to mid-August when fire risk closes some trails.
