Delos, a tiny uninhabited island 30 minutes by ferry from Mykonos, was the mythological birthplace of Apollo and Artemis and one of the most sacred sites in the ancient Greek world. The sprawling UNESCO World Heritage archaeological site includes the Avenue of Lions, mosaics in the House of Dolphins, the Terrace of the Foreign Gods, and a hilltop sanctuary with panoramic Cyclades views. Admission €20, return ferry €25. Open April-November; arrive early as only 2,000 visitors allowed per day.
