Red Sea Snorkeling & Diving
Aqaba, Jordan
About This Activity
The Gulf of Aqaba contains some of the most pristine and accessible coral reefs in the world. Aqaba's protected marine reserve stretches 27km along the Jordanian coast, sheltering over 500 species of fish, sea turtles, dolphins, and extensive hard and soft coral gardens that plunge to depths of 45m. For snorkelers, the South Beach area offers free-access coral just 50 metres from shore. Dive centres along the beach road (several PADI-certified operations) rent equipment and offer guided dives. The famous Cedar Pride shipwreck, deliberately sunk as an artificial reef, is accessible to recreational divers at 28m. Water temperature averages 22–26°C year-round.
