The 27-mile Park Loop Road is Acadia's essential circuit, best driven counterclockwise. Stop at Sand Beach (the park's only sandy beach, backed by dramatic pink granite), Thunder Hole (a sea chasm that booms when waves rush in at mid-tide), and Otter Cliffs (the highest ocean-side cliffs on the East Coast). End with popovers at Jordan Pond House. Acadia entrance fee: $35/vehicle (7-day pass); non-US residents pay an additional $100/person surcharge starting 2026. Reserve a Cadillac Summit Road timed entry slot via Recreation.gov ($6) for sunrise.
