Mercado do Bolhao Food Tour
Porto, Portugal
About This Activity
Mercado do Bolhao reopened in 2022 after a stunning restoration of its original Neo-Classical iron-and-stone hall. On two floors, over 80 vendors sell everything from salt cod (bacalhau) and presunto ham to tropical fruits and handmade tripe sausages. The upstairs food court serves traditional Porto dishes at communal tables. A self-guided visit costs nothing; guided food tours with tastings run about 40 EUR and are excellent for understanding Porto's culinary identity.
Seasonal note: Open Mon–Fri 8am–8pm, Saturday 8am–6pm. Closed Sundays and holidays. Saturday mornings are liveliest with the full vendor complement.
