Porto, Portugal
About This Activity
Peneda-Gerês, Portugal's sole national park, lies 90 minutes north of Porto and protects wild granite mountains, Celtic stone villages, Iberian wolves, and cascading waterfalls. Guided small-group tours (~€55-75 per person) depart Porto in the morning and typically include stops at Gerês spa town, the Caniçada reservoir, and the ancient village of Soajo with its communal stone granaries. Entry to the park is free; the Mata de Albergaria forest road charges a €2 toll per vehicle.
Seasonal note: Best Apr–Jun and Sep–Oct; summer crowds peak Jul–Aug
