Franschhoek Wine Tram
Stellenbosch, South Africa
About This Activity
The Franschhoek Wine Tram is one of the Western Cape's most enjoyable wine country experiences. A hop-on hop-off vintage tram (and connecting buses) loops through the beautiful Franschhoek Valley, stopping at a dozen wine estates and restaurants. Franschhoek — meaning 'French Corner' in Dutch — was settled by French Huguenot refugees in 1688 and remains distinct in South African wine culture for its French heritage and exceptional fine dining. Estates like La Motte, Rickety Bridge, and Haute Cabrière are on the route. The village itself is one of South Africa's most charming, with a tree-lined main street of gourmet restaurants and delis.
