About This Activity

The Royal Crescent is one of the greatest examples of Georgian architecture in Britain — a sweeping arc of 30 terraced houses designed by John Wood the Younger, completed in 1774. A short walk away, The Circus (designed by his father, John Wood the Elder) forms a perfect circle of three identical Georgian terraces. Both are free to walk around; No. 1 Royal Crescent is a museum of 18th-century life open to visitors. The surrounding parkland is excellent for a picnic.
