Burr Trail 4x4 Exploration
Capitol Reef, Utah National Parks
About This Activity
Drive the scenic Burr Trail Road, which starts paved near Boulder and turns to gravel as it descends through the Waterpocket Fold via dramatic switchbacks. The route connects Grand Staircase-Escalante with Capitol Reef and Glen Canyon. The switchback section requires some confidence on unpaved roads but does not require 4WD when dry. Allow 6-8 hours for the full loop with stops. Highlights include Long Canyon narrows, the Burr Trail switchbacks, and Strike Valley Overlook.
