About This Activity

Capitol Reef was designated an International Dark Sky Park, offering pristine night skies with minimal light pollution. On a clear, moonless night, the Milky Way arcs across the entire sky. Best viewpoints include Panorama Point, the Goosenecks Overlook, and along the Scenic Drive. The NPS occasionally offers ranger-led astronomy programs and night hikes (check the Visitor Center schedule upon arrival). Free with park admission. Best months: June through October when skies are clearest.
