About This Activity
Castillo San Felipe de Barajas is the largest Spanish colonial fortress ever built in the Americas. Constructed in 1536 and expanded over two centuries, the castle sits on a hill overlooking Cartagena and features an intricate network of tunnels designed to amplify enemy footsteps. Audio guides are available in English and Spanish. The views from the ramparts over the bay are superb. Visit in the morning to beat the heat. Allow 1.5 to 2 hours.
