Medellín, Colombia
About This Activity
The Jardín Botánico de Medellín spans 14 hectares in the heart of the city, housing 4,500 plant species including Colombia's national tree (the wax palm) and an extensive orchid collection. The centerpiece is the Orquideórama — a stunning lattice-wood pavilion designed by Plan:b Arquitectos that won multiple international architecture prizes. Entry is free. The garden is a favorite with local families on weekends. Also a great place to try fresh tropical fruit from the market inside. Open daily.
