Gili Meno Salt Lake & Birdwatching
Gili Islands, Indonesia
About This Activity
Gili Meno is the quietest and most serene of the three Gili Islands, and its small salt lake in the island's centre is a hidden gem. The lake and surrounding vegetation shelter herons, kingfishers, and migratory birds, making it a peaceful birdwatching spot. A walking trail circles the entire island in roughly 45 minutes — the lake and its bird life are the highlight of the interior. Gili Meno itself has no motorised vehicles, so the ambient soundtrack is just wind, waves, and birdsong. Combine with a swim off the island's white sand beaches — the east coast has particularly clear, calm water.
