Underwater Statues Dive Site
Gili Islands, Indonesia
About This Activity
The Gili Meno Nest — sometimes called the Gili Meno Statues — is one of Indonesia's most photographed dive sites, where an otherworldly circle of 48 life-size human figures sits on a sandy seabed at 5–8 metres depth. Created by British sculptor Jason deCaires Taylor in 2006 and later expanded by local artist Chris Brown, the installation functions as an artificial reef now covered in hard and soft corals, inhabited by juvenile reef fish and the occasional turtle. The site is shallow enough for snorkellers with a mask, making it one of the most accessible and rewarding underwater experiences in the Gilis.
