Skellig Michael, a UNESCO World Heritage Site 13km off the Kerry coast, hosts a remarkably intact 6th-century monastic settlement of stone beehive huts clinging to its 218m summit. The island became famous as a Star Wars filming location (The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi). Landing permits are limited — boats depart from Portmagee May–September only and are highly weather-dependent. Landing tours cost from €125 per person; book at least 6 weeks ahead. Eco-cruises around both Skelligs (no landing) start from €60–70.
