Capri is 30 minutes by hydrofoil from Sorrento (€20 one-way). The Blue Grotto (Grotta Azzurra) is entered by lying flat in a rowboat through a 1m opening — inside, the water glows electric blue from refracted sunlight (entry €18 plus rowing boat fee). Avoid it if short on time (1-hour queues are normal). Better alternatives: the Gardens of Augustus clifftop views, the Via Krupp descent, or the 2-hour hike to Villa Jovis (Tiberius's palace ruins, €8). The funicular from Marina Grande to Capri town is €2.
Seasonal note: Blue Grotto closed Nov-March; summer crowds; April-May ideal
