Positano is 30 minutes east of Sorrento by SITA bus (€2.60) along the winding SS163 — the coastal road itself is the spectacle. From the upper road, Positano's white and terracotta houses cascade down the cliff face to the Spiaggia Grande beach. Walk the Via Positanesi d'America staircase from top to bottom, stopping for limoncello and fresh mozzarella at the small shops. Boats to Capri and Amalfi depart from the ferry dock in summer. Hire a private taxi boat back to Sorrento for a different perspective.
