Pompeii is 35 minutes from Sorrento by Circumvesuviana train (€2.80 from Sorrento station). Exit at Pompei Scavi station and enter the archaeological park directly opposite (€18-22 admission). Walk paved Roman streets past intact bakeries, bath houses, the amphitheater, and the Forum while Vesuvius looms visibly above. Budget 3-4 hours on site. The plaster casts of volcano victims at the Garden of the Fugitives are the most affecting exhibit. Buy tickets online — daily caps apply from spring 2026.
