Casco Bay Islands Ferry Exploration
Portland, Maine Coast
About This Activity
Casco Bay Lines, the nation's oldest continuously operating ferry service, runs year-round to Peaks Island and seasonally to other Casco Bay islands. Peaks Island is a 20-minute ferry from Portland's waterfront — ideal for a bike ride around the island's perimeter, a dip at Sandy Beach, or lunch at the island's casual restaurants. Great Chebeague is the most remote day-trip option. Seals, ospreys, and bald eagles are frequently spotted from the ferry decks.
Seasonal note: Ferries run year-round to Peaks Island; some islands seasonal only
