Mitla Archaeological Site
Oaxaca, Mexico
About This Activity
Mitla ('Place of the Dead' in Nahuatl) was the most important Zapotec religious center, featuring stunning geometric fretwork mosaics made from thousands of individually cut stones fitted without mortar. The Hall of Columns and underground tombs are highlights. Entry is 210 MXN (INAH Category I, 2026). Less crowded than Monte Albán and easily combined with Hierve el Agua and the Tule Tree on a day trip east of Oaxaca city.
Seasonal note: Best Nov-Apr; open 8am-5pm daily
