About This Activity
Wētā Workshop is the world-renowned practical effects studio responsible for the creatures, armour, and prosthetics in The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Avatar, and dozens of major productions. The Wellington experience runs 90-minute guided tours through the working studio in Miramar, where you'll see Orc masks being sculpted, medieval armour fabricated, and Oscar statuettes on display. Adult tickets are NZ$60 online (NZ$65 on the day). Book in advance — sessions fill quickly, especially in peak summer. Note: Wētā Workshop Unleashed (a larger interactive experience) is located separately in Auckland.
Seasonal note: Open year-round with multiple daily sessions. Book well ahead in NZ summer (Dec–Feb) when demand is highest.
