About This Activity
Weta Workshop is the world-renowned practical effects studio responsible for the creatures, armour, and prosthetics in The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Avatar, and dozens of major productions. The Wellington experience runs guided tours (approximately 90 minutes) through the working studio in Miramar, where you'll see Orc masks being sculpted, medieval armour fabricated, and Oscar statuettes on display. Adult tickets are NZ$60. Booking in advance is essential as sessions fill quickly, especially in peak summer. Note: Weta Workshop Unleashed (a separate experience) is located in Auckland.
Seasonal note: Open year-round with multiple daily sessions. Book well ahead in NZ summer (Dec–Feb) when demand is highest.
