About This Activity

The Knysna Heads are the twin sandstone cliffs — the Eastern and Western Heads — that guard the narrow, treacherous entrance between the Knysna Lagoon and the Indian Ocean. These 200-metre-high headlands are among the most photographed landmarks on the Garden Route. The Eastern Head is accessible by car and foot, with a short walk to the viewpoint offering some of the most dramatic coastal scenery in South Africa: turquoise lagoon waters, crashing surf, and the forest-clad Outeniqua Mountains as backdrop. Guided boat trips pass through the Heads and offer a different perspective from water level.
