Robberg Nature Reserve Peninsula Hike
Knysna, South Africa
About This Activity
Robberg Nature Reserve protects a dramatic 4-kilometre rocky peninsula that juts into the Indian Ocean at Plettenberg Bay, 30 minutes from Knysna. Three circular hiking trails (ranging from 2 to 9 kilometres) traverse the reserve's backbone of quartzite ridges, with extraordinary views across the bay and down to the Cape fur seal colony in the Point area below. Southern right whales regularly breach in the bay from June to November, and dolphins surf the breakers year-round. The longer circuit requires descending to a narrow rocky passage that may be cut off at high tide — check tide tables before setting out.
