The National Mall runs 2 miles from the U.S. Capitol west to the Lincoln Memorial, passing the Washington Monument, the World War II Memorial, and the Reflecting Pool. Side paths lead to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, the Korean War Veterans Memorial, and the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial on the Tidal Basin. All free to visit; sunrise and sunset are spectacular.
