About This Activity

Drive one of America's most scenic roads: the 124-mile Scenic Byway 12 connecting Bryce Canyon with Capitol Reef through Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. This All-American Road traverses slickrock canyons, red-rock cliffs, alpine forests, and the dramatic Hogsback ridge. Key stops include Kodachrome Basin State Park, the town of Escalante, Calf Creek Falls (a stunning 126-foot waterfall, 6-mile round-trip hike), and the Anasazi State Park Museum in Boulder. Allow a full day for the drive with stops. The road is paved but winding with steep grades. Gas up before leaving -- services are sparse.
