About This Activity

Red Beach (Kokkini Paralia) near Akrotiri is Santorini's most striking natural spectacle — a crescent of deep-red and black volcanic sand framed by 200-meter ochre-red compressed lava cliffs, with vivid turquoise water below. Access is via a 15-minute coastal footpath from the car park; the terrain is uneven and some cliff sections carry rockfall warnings — stay away from the cliff base. Boat access from Akrotiri port is the safer alternative. Best combined with a morning visit to the nearby Akrotiri archaeological site. Sunbeds available. Free to visit.

Seasonal note: Open April–October; packed in peak summer. Check access status before visiting as the cliff path can be partially closed after rockfalls.
