About This Activity
From Fira's old port, a boat takes you to the active volcanic island of Nea Kameni in the center of the caldera. Hike to the summit crater — still emitting sulfurous gases — for a moon-like landscape and dramatic caldera views. The tour continues to the adjacent Palea Kameni hot springs where orange-hued thermal water seeps into the sea at 30°C. The full excursion (including Thirassia island stop) takes 4-5 hours. Cost approximately €25-35 per person.
