Agra Marble Inlay Craft Workshop
Agra, India
About This Activity
The pietra dura stone-inlay tradition that adorns the Taj Mahal has been passed down through Agra families for over 400 years. Subhash Emporium on Gwalior Road — recommended by major travel guides and in operation since 1973 — invites visitors to watch master craftsmen hand-cut lapis lazuli, malachite, carnelian, and jasper into petals and press them into marble using the same tools used four centuries ago. The demonstration is free and no-pressure; pieces range from small coasters to heirloom table tops. A genuine craft experience, not a tourist trap.
Seasonal note: Open year-round; indoor activity unaffected by weather.
