Mehtab Bagh Sunset View of the Taj
Agra, India
About This Activity
Mehtab Bagh (Moonlight Garden) sits directly north across the Yamuna River from the Taj Mahal, offering a serene, unobstructed view that Shah Jahan originally planned as an extension of the Taj complex. At sunset the marble dome turns ochre and copper against the sky, with far fewer crowds than the main complex. Entry is ₹300 for foreigners — a fraction of the Taj ticket price. Open daily sunrise to sunset; combine with the Agra Fort in the afternoon for an efficient day.
Seasonal note: Best October–March for cool evenings and clear sunset views. July–September monsoon raises river levels for a dramatic backdrop but heat and humidity are high.
