About This Activity

The Red Fort, built by Shah Jahan in 1638 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, anchors Old Delhi with its 2-km perimeter of red sandstone walls. The Diwan-i-Am (Hall of Public Audience) and jewel-inlaid Diwan-i-Khas are the architectural highlights; the Swatantrata Sangram Sangrahalaya museum inside tells India's independence story. Closed on Mondays — book ASI tickets online to skip queues. The evening sound-and-light show runs Tuesday–Sunday.

Seasonal note: Oct–Mar is ideal; avoid Apr–Jun (extreme heat, 40°C+) and Jul–Sep (monsoon humidity). Open year-round except Mondays.
