About This Activity

Connemara is one of Ireland's most dramatic landscapes — Twelve Bens peaks, blanket bogs, and Atlantic inlets stretching west of Galway. Kylemore Abbey, a neo-Gothic Victorian castle and Benedictine monastery set beside Pollacapall Lough, is the centrepiece of most day tours (abbey admission approximately €13.50 adult). Guided day tours from Galway (from about €30–55) include the Connemara National Park visitor area and the fjord village of Leenane at the head of Killary Harbour.

Seasonal note: Best May–Sep; roads can be narrow and slow in high season
