Killarney Lakes Walk — Ross Castle, Muckross Abbey & Lough Leane
Killarney, Ireland
About This Activity
The lakeside loop around Lough Leane and Muckross Lake passes two of Killarney's best medieval sites. Ross Castle (15th century) stands on the lake shore and is managed by the OPW — boat trips to Innisfallen Island monastic settlement depart from its pier. Muckross Abbey, a roofless Franciscan friary founded in 1448, stands in a wooded grove nearby. Entry to the park and Abbey is free; Ross Castle exterior is also free.
Seasonal note: Best May–Sep
