The Blasket Centre, Dunquin, Dingle Peninsula
Killarney, Ireland
About This Activity
The Blasket Centre (Ionad an Bhlascaoid) at Dunquin, at the very tip of the Dingle Peninsula, tells the story of the Great Blasket Island — the most westerly inhabited place in Europe until its final community was evacuated in 1953. Rebuilt and reopened in 2022 with fully renewed interactive exhibitions, the centre documents the islanders' extraordinary literary output (Tomás Ó Criomhthain, Peig Sayers, Muiris Ó Súilleabháin) and the subsequent diaspora of Irish-speaking families to Springfield, Massachusetts. Adult admission €5.
Seasonal note: Open mid-March to end of September only
