About This Activity

The Israel Museum in Jerusalem is the country's national museum and one of the leading art and archaeology museums in the Middle East. Its centrepiece is the Shrine of the Book — a striking white dome housing the Dead Sea Scrolls, the oldest biblical manuscripts in existence, discovered at Qumran in 1947. The archaeology wing features the most comprehensive collection of artifacts from the Land of Israel, while the outdoor Billy Rose Art Garden displays works by Rodin, Picasso, and Henry Moore against a backdrop of the Judean Hills. The museum's scale is impressive; allocate at least three hours.

Seasonal note: Year-round. Free admission on Tuesdays for children.
