About This Activity

Yad Vashem is Israel's national Holocaust memorial and museum complex on the western slope of Mount Herzl. The Museum of Holocaust History, designed by Moshe Safdie, is the centrepiece: a triangular prism cut through bedrock that guides visitors chronologically through the destruction of European Jewry via testimony, artefacts, photographs, and film. The Hall of Names holds the documented details of over four million victims; the database of six million is being completed. The Children's Memorial — a single candle reflected in mirrors for each of the 1.5 million child victims — is among the most haunting memorial experiences anywhere in the world. The Avenue of the Righteous Among the Nations honours non-Jews who risked their lives to save Jews. Entry is free but advance online registration is required; bring passport or ID. Children under 10 are not admitted to the main museum. Allow at least 3–4 hours and plan lighter activities afterward — the emotional weight is significant.

Seasonal note: Year-round. Sun/Mon/Wed/Thu 9:00–17:00, Tue 9:00–13:00, Fri 9:00–14:00. Closed Saturday and Jewish holidays. Last entry 2 hours before closing.
