About This Activity

The Monterosso–Vernazza stretch of the Sentiero Azzurro (Blue Trail) is widely considered the finest coastal hike in Italy — a 3.8 km path with 540 m of ascent over rugged terraced vineyards and scrub cliffs above vertiginous sea drops. Allow 90 minutes upward and buy a Cinque Terre Trekking Card (€7.50/day) at the Monterosso park office before setting off. The trail ends in Vernazza's postcard harbour — reward yourself with a glass of Sciacchetrà dessert wine at a terrace overlooking the boats. Return by local train (included in the Cinque Terre Card + Train version, €17).

Seasonal note: Trails close after heavy rain; July-August is very crowded — book early-morning starts
