Rome's centro storico rewards walkers with a constant procession of piazzas, fountains, and Renaissance palaces. Start at the 135-step Spanish Steps, walk south through the Campo Marzio to the Pantheon (now €5 entry), then east to the Trevi Fountain, finishing at the oval Piazza Navona with Bernini's Fountain of the Four Rivers. The route is 3 km and takes 3 hours including stops. Gelato shops and coffee bars line the way.
