Cascate del Mulino — Saturnia Natural Hot Springs
Tuscany, Italy
About This Activity
Cascate del Mulino is Tuscany's best-kept wellness secret — a series of free, naturally terraced hot spring pools in the Maremma countryside near the town of Saturnia. Sulphurous water at a constant 37°C spills over travertine ledges in small cascades, forming milky blue-green pools you can soak in around the clock, 365 days a year, at no cost. The setting is wild and photogenic: steam rising above the pools, cypress-dotted hills in the background. Parking costs roughly €5; a small café nearby has showers and changing rooms (paid). The upscale Terme di Saturnia resort is a five-star alternative 2 km away, offering day spa access with pools, treatments, and locker rooms for around €50-80 per person — but the free falls are the real draw. Drive from Florence (2.5 hours) or Siena (1.5 hours).
Seasonal note: Year-round; best spring and autumn for comfortable temperatures
