About This Activity
Kamakura sits between wooded hills and the Pacific, 1 hour south of Tokyo by train. The Great Buddha (Kotoku-in, ¥300) is a 13.35m bronze statue dating to 1252 — visitors can walk inside. The Daibutsu Hiking Course links five mountain temples including Zuisenji and Kakuon-ji through cedar forest. Finish with fresh seafood at Komachi-dori or a swim at Yuigahama Beach in summer.
