About This Activity

Daikokuya in Asakusa has been serving tempura rice bowls (tendon) since 1887 and is one of the few traditional tempura shops that can accommodate GF requests when pre-arranged — using rice-flour batter on sesame oil-fried prawns and vegetables. The amber sesame oil gives Daikokuya's tempura its distinctive colour and flavour. A tendon costs ¥2,100–2,800 for the set. Pairing a tendon lunch with a Senso-ji Temple visit and Nakamise shopping street walk makes a natural half-day in Tokyo's most traditional neighbourhood.

Seasonal note: Year-round
