About This Activity

Lawrence's Spring (Ain Abu Aineh) is a natural freshwater spring deep in the heart of Wadi Rum, named after T.E. Lawrence who used the area as a base during the Arab Revolt (1917-18). The spring emerges from the base of Jabal Khazali, and the surrounding area is rich with Thamudic and Nabataean rock inscriptions and petroglyphs dating back thousands of years, including drawings of ibex, humans, and inscribed texts. The small pool of water surrounded by fig trees in the vast desert is a surprisingly intimate landscape. The site is typically included as a stop on jeep safari tours.
