Northern Lights Viewing
Tromsø, Norway
About This Activity
Tromsø sits at 69°N inside the auroral oval, making it one of the planet's premier northern lights destinations. From September through March, clear nights regularly bring ribbons of green, purple, and white light dancing overhead. Guided evening chases by minibus or snowmobile head away from city light pollution to dark-sky spots in the surrounding fjord valleys, with expert guides who know how to read the solar forecast. Even without a tour, the lights are often visible from the city itself on active nights.
